1. Product Information

Product Name WD3329 Matt Agent
Type Modified Polyethylene Wax
Application Systems Polyester/TGIC, Polyester/HAA, Hybrid
Gloss Range 30 – 40% (60°)

2. Description

WD3329 is a modified polyethylene wax based matt agent designed for outdoor durable polyester/TGIC or polyester/β-hydroxyalkylamide powder coatings, providing a 30 – 40% gloss range with a smooth matte finish. It can also be used in hybrid systems to achieve appropriate semi-gloss. Recommended for aluminum composite panel powder coatings.

3. Technical Specification

Description Specification
Appearance Light yellowish powder
Softening Point (Ring & Ball) 114 – 120 ℃
Bulk Density 450 – 550 g/L

4. Features

Can provide a minimum gloss of 26% (60°) for polyester/TGIC powder coatings without significantly impairing weatherability, flow and mechanical properties. Semi-gloss coatings are typically used on:

It can also be used in other coating systems such as pure epoxy and epoxy-polyester hybrids to provide semi-gloss appearance with good anti-yellowing properties.

Note: As a non-reactive additive-type matting agent, no special formulation design is required. Simply choose to use it during the premixing stage of powder coating production. Gloss can be further adjusted by varying the addition level or selecting appropriate fillers, but the range of variation is typically limited.

5. Black/Dark Colors

For black/dark colored coatings, there may be slight waxy exudates on the surface.

6. Use Level

⚠ Important Note: Addition levels exceeding 3% of total formulation weight are not recommended, as they may cause poor powder flow, wet caking or gun clogging.

7. Accelerators/Catalysts

Accelerators/catalysts should not be added to formulations containing WD3329 to improve impact resistance, as this will cause undesired gloss increase and poor surface leveling.
